Walhalla is the Main Street to the Mountains. Founded by German immigrants who left from Hamburg, they found this place to be a little piece of heaven and a "garden of the gods," which is the loose translation for Walhalla. Located at in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this area is spattered with breathtaking views, white water rapids, rivers, trails, and lakes.
Get into Walhalla's Outdoors
Downtown Walhalla is dotted with quaint shops and local eateries, and from there you can pick your adventure on the many waterways (2 rivers, 4 lakes, and over 150 waterfalls to be exact). Whitewater rafting, zip-lining, tubing, hiking, biking, and all types of boating are the hands-down favorite adventures here, and there are plenty of outfitters to get you started! Definitely don't miss Lake Jocassee, named destination of a lifetime by National Geographic for its stunning beauty and rare natural habitats.
